5/25/2022 2 Comments Meet the Andersen FamilyHello! We are the Andersen Family! We're so glad that you're here to learn more about us. We are a family of 3 (5 if you count our pets), but we're hoping to expand that number through adoption. In 2022 we sat down as a family and created a mission statement that explains a lot about who we are and what we try to teach and be in our family: We are fun, adventurous, loving, and honest. We learn from our mistakes, forgive each other, and help each other along the covenant path. We can do hard things! We enjoy spending time together playing games watching movies, jumping on our trampoline in the backyard, camping, traveling, and visiting extended family. We love Disneyland, Star Wars, Lego, and Harry Potter. We've been married since 2006 and have one son, Timothy. He is excited to be a big brother and we know he will do such a great job because he's so caring and a great helper. We also have a cat, Mohawk, and a dog, Teddy. We moved into a new home in January 2022 and have loved having space to host family and love our backyard. We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and religion is a big part of our lives. We attend church and teach our son (and will teach our other children) about the gospel and encourage him (and future children) to be good people. We are open to different levels of openness within our adoption and we'd love our child to know their birth family. We want birth mothers (and their families) to know how much we admire you and to know that we are continually thinking and praying for you! Devin: Devin is an Ultimate Frisbee loving guy and until very recently would play at least 3-4 times every week. After his team made it to Nationals he decided to "hang up the hat" (or maybe we should say disc) and now only plays 1-2 times a week. Recently he has started to train our dog, Teddy, to catch a frisbee and that has been a huge dream of his for a long time. He also loves video games and doesn't like to admit how much he used to play growing up. One of his favorite evening activities is gathering the family to play old school games on his raspberry pie. He's passed this love on to our son Timothy. Devin works for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Temple department as a QA. He works from home most days, but would prefer to work from the office, even if no one is there. It helps him to focus and have a routine of "going to work." He is a hard worker and is very dedicated at what he does. Sarah is a work from home mom. She is an elementary teacher and after teaching for 7 years at a school in Herriman decided she wanted to switch to teaching online so she could be home with Timothy. She has loved the switch and although she does occasionally miss the fun of being in person with her students she has excelled teaching online and still is able to make great connections with her students. Her biggest perk is having more flexibility to be available when Tim gets home from school or needs her. Sarah loves crafting and has a room all to herself for her office/craft room. Devin recently got her a Dreambox and she loves having everything organized - Sarah is a very organized person and likes to have things neat, clean, and orderly. Sarah loves having the summers off with Tim and is always up for planning and throwing a good party! Tim has benefited from this a lot as his birthday is in the summer so Sarah has lots of time to go all out for his parties. Another thing about Sarah is she really enjoys cooking and baking. She loves trying new recipes, but is the "roll guru" in the family. Timothy is our miracle boy! After trying to get pregnant for 7 years we got pregnant randomly with our little miracle. However, he was so excited he came early at 27 weeks because of severe preeclampsia. He weighed a whopping 1 lb 13.5 oz and spent 3.5 months in the NICU. He came home from the nicu on Halloween so we always like celebrate by getting lots of candy. ;) Timothy is so creative and has an active imagination. He loves to be in costumes and is always playing some pretend game. He also loves to build things with Legos and has shown quite the creative knack with that. He takes after his Dad emotionally and can be a very tenderhearted boy. He also loves playing video games and will play any chance he gets. Don't tell him, but he's getting really good. ;) Timothy is a very popular little kid and there isn't a day that goes by where we don't have friends asking if he can play. Luckily he still likes to hang out with Mom and Dad too. Pets: We have a cat, Mohawk - we call him Mo. He was named because he's all white except for a little gray Mohawk on top of his head. Mo definitely has the typical cat traits and thinks he owns the place. He will only snuggle when it is his idea and even then for short periods. This makes Sarah really sad and she'll try to force him to cuddle sometimes. If you get too close he might put his paw on your nose as his way of saying, "No touchy" We like to talk for our pets and give them a unique voice that fits their personality. Mohawk has a grumpy voice with an accent that just sounds like he's annoyed by everything. He is definitely an observer and likes to look down from above and see what's going on, but don't try to touch him or he'll slink away. We also have a dog, Teddy. He is an Australian Labradoodle. He was named because he's like a big (and awkward) teddy bear. We talk for Teddy in a fun-loving voice, almost dumb voice; kind of like Dug on the Pixar movie Up. Teddy is very skittish when meeting new people, but once he warms up he will want to play non-stop. He will try and cuddle if we're all together on the couch or laying in bed, but he's still a little awkward and doesn't realize how big he is, so he occasionally ends up just sitting on you. Teddy is learning how to catch a frisbee and will play any chance he gets. He will eat anything, yes anything so we have to be on our guard to watch him and since he's so big watch the counters. If food is too close to the edge of the counter and we're not watching Teddy will get it. Sadly, we've lost several delicious rolls this way. Thanks for following along with us and getting to know us better. We are so excited to move forward with adoption and get to know you too.

5/9/2022 0 Comments Our FamiliesAdolphson Family (Sarah's family) in 2019 Sarah is the youngest of 8 kids. Her parents (Paul & Shirley) have 22 grandchildren. Sarah grew up in American Fork and Alpine, Utah. Even though she is the youngest she has always had a really good relationship with all of her family and they have always been really close. Sarah's father passed away in December 2021 and although that was really hard, it was great to have family come into town and all be together. Sarah's mother currently lives in Pleasant Grove and it's been fun to be close to her. We have loved having so many siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins around to have fun with. Tim is especially close to some of his cousins and they have so much fun whenever the family is together. Sarah usually has family come into town to visit a couple times a year and we always have a blast. We also love traveling to visit Sarah's siblings and love the time we get to spend with family. Andersen/Westbrook Family (Devin's Family) in 2017 Devin is the 2nd oldest in a blended family. Devin's father (Timothy H. Andersen) passed away when Devin was 10. His mother later remarried Corey Westbrook. Devin has 4 siblings and 3 step-siblings. Corey passed away from Covid in April 2020. Devin's mother lives in Holliday, Utah and we love visiting her often. We have a lot of fun whenever we get together. Timothy has several cousins around his age and then lots of younger cousins too. It's always a fun time, when we can together with everyone! The past couple years we've rented out a cabin where we can all gather and be together. We've loved this time to bond and have fun together. This summer we're going to get together at our house and we're so excited to have a place to host everyone. We are so grateful for the love and support of all our family and extended family. We have a wonderful support system and know that our family would do anything for us. Our son is so loved by many people and we know any future children we have will likewise have lots of support from all of our family.
